Digital Camera Support?

I have an HP photosmart 635, it has two modes (digital camera and usb storage).
The digital camera mode works using PTP if you have an app like
digikam installed but doesn't auto-mount when you plug in the usb and
turn on the camera, however if I put the camera setting in usb storage
mode it does auto-mount (like a usb drive with a sda1 icon on the
desktop) and it recognises there are digital photo's and asks if you
want to import them. I have another camera (Kodak cx4200) that is
automatically recognised and mounted.
