quicktime controller in firefox

I've installed the mozilla plugin for vlc in firefox, and it is
successfully playing embedded movies. The quicktime controller doesn't
show up, however, which means I can't play clips that don't start
automatically.
For example, this site
(http://www.colby.edu/~bknelson/exercises/ofrendas/cancion_new.php)
has several audio clips on a page, which have to be started by
clicking on the controller. However the controller is replaced with
the text 'no picture'.
Is it possible to fix this, and if so, how?
Thanks,
Ed Chadwick.
