(Warty) no sound devices created on Dell D-800 laptop.

Hi Bruce,
I have a 600m Laptop and encountered the same no-sound problem. I
followed the advice in this thread for the 'D800 Laptop'
(http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=5464) and put in
acpi_irq_isa=7 into my grub config file, and it worked. 

Another way to get around the problem was to recompile the kernel with
file system support built in (as opposed to modules), and stop using a
ramdisk to boot up with. The first solution was much easier however.
