Thanks Oliver. I saw your note to someone else about the dangers of
manually editing the file, but after I had already done it! I deleted
XF86Config-4 and used 'dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86' to re-write it.
After a re-boot, it ran! I'm back with the new card. Thanks.
