Big problem with SCSI CB burner !

Boy, a full day spent trying to sort out my CD burner.

Thank God, I made some progress. I found the problem with Nautilus
burner : during the preparation of the CD image, it sometime hung. this
was due to a few files that were not UTF-8 compliant. I switched to
UTF-8 recently, so I guess I need to run some utility to convert all the
files in my /home directory.

The problem I had with my /var/log/message weighting 100+ MB and
containing 1,250,000 lines of SCSI related error message, was solved
too. Though I will never know what was wrong.
All I did was change the Adaptec controller. I had another one lying
around. I thought it was another model, but no, both were AHA-2940AU
boards, and according to the sticker on the ROM, they even run the exact
same FW revision !
But I swapped teh board anyway. The only difference is that I plugged it
in a different PCI slot, as I learned the all PCI slots aren't exactly
born equal in a system, somehow.
Don't know what made the difference, the board or the new slot, but I
don't get tons of errors anymore. So, I am glad I tried it.

So now basically I can burn perfectly with Nautilus.

Because I was curious, I tried other applications too, to burn audio
CD's, and multiple session discs. I tried, GnomeBaker, Eroaster,
Xcdroast, and even the dread K3B (spent an hour downloading 20+ MB !),
but none of them were able to do anything, not even a simple single
session data CD. All these apps were plain useless.
I am bit sad, because I quite like GnomeBaker and also Eroaster, so was
hoping they would work.

So, although so many people complain about Nautilus burner, it seems he
is the one that came to the rescue when all other applicant failed !
Thank God, it does all I really need it to do. Audio CDs and multiple
sessions stuff was just for the sake of completeness, but I hardly need
them.
