I have SuSE 8.2 personal edition running on a Pentium II equivalent
machine. I need better function for PDA's and ipod so I would like to
upgrade to Ubuntu given the newer kernel and the debian system for
updating applications.

Need help/advice on the following.

1. Installed the 386 version of Ubuntu from the install disks. Was
unable to get a clean install and the system still rejects loading the
hotplug utilities.
2. When I boot with Ubuntu, I get the linux command line log in and
can't get from there to Gnome.
3. I was able to keep SuSE on a separate partition, and thus I am able
to ask this question, how can I get the Ubuntu system to load the
hotplug utilities I need for my PDA and my son's ipod?
4. Ulitmately, I would like to be able to have nothing on the hard
disk except Ubuntu, but want a functional system before deleting SuSE.
How would I get SuSE and the old windows stuff deleted after I get a
functional Ubuntu system working?
