Syncing Treo 90 with JPilot on Ubuntu

I was able to get my Treo 90 to sync with JPilot by making sure the
device node was set correctly, clicking the HotSync button (on the
cable) first, waiting for 2 or 3 seconds for the Treo to be detected
and listed in /dev, and then pressying the "Sync" button in the
software.
I was also able to get my Treo working perfectly with the GNOME Pilot
applet, but it was a bit more tricky. In order to successfully get
through the dialog box which attempts to get the UserID, I had to try
it about 5 times, and I'm not sure quite what did it. Once the name was
fetched, I set the cradle timeout from "2" to "100" and all was well. It
seems that the timeout was set to too short a time.
Hope that helps. Sorry for the ambiguity. It's been a while since I set
it up.
