Midi Player for Noteedit?

I've been using noteedit quite a lot with Mandrake and Timidity as midi
server.  Now I am trying to figure out how to use it with Ubuntu.  

I tried Timidity yesterday, but could not have it working.  I did not
give up yet.

How was the install of Noteedit?  I am afraid it would install lots of
Qt/KDE dependencies.  

And, bear with a newly converted Debian user (from Mandrake), what is
the address of the repository where you found Noteedit ?
