Xtra X

Hi
A friend of mine just installed ubuntu on his laptop and all is great 
except...
He gets an X in the middle of th screen t all times. The X is the 
standard X mouse cursor, but he can't move it. He also get's an ordenary 
mouse cursor, so it seems as if he has two cursors but can only use one 
of them.

I know this isn't much information, but if you have any ideas on how to 
remove the Xtra X, I'd love to hear them.
