A clean-up tool seems a bit of a Microsofty solution (a tool for every
app?). If there really has to be config info that might stuff things up,
it should I think be stored in a known separate location that can be
isolated or deleted when /home is remounted under a new installation.
Having said that, I don't know that much about how it's all done now, so
there might be good reasons.
