Battery Charge Monitor

Has anyone been able to get this applet running properly with an ACPI
laptop, and not APM?

It's detection of events on my machine (HP ze5200) is poor to say the
least, and had made me suspicious of the support for ACPI under
Ubuntu.

For some reason, I had a play with XFCE last night and it's battery
monitor worked fine!!

Is there something I need to pass to the GNOME applet for it to function?
