If the problem is just the meta-package, than you could first install it
and remove it afterwards, which AFAIK doesn't remove the 'real'
packages, so you don't have to install everything serparately.

Or you could use 'dselect' where you just need to select the
meta-package which selects all the dependencies and than unselect the
meta-package again.
