No Gaim Sounds with Rhythmbox playing.

Most sound cards do not support hardware mixing so they don't support
multiple opens of/dev/dsp.

If you run esd then you can get it all to work. Here's how:

1. Be sure esd is set to startup with Gnome.

Open Preferences->Sound Preferences. Be sure "Enable sound server
startup" is checked.

If it wasn't checked, check and logout then back in.

2. Setup gstreamer for esd. This is what totem and rhythmbox use.

Open Preferences->Multimedia System Selector. For "Default Sink"
select "ESD - Enlightenment Sound Daemon".

3. If you use XMMS, make it use the esd output plugin.

Open XMMS. Ctrl-P to open the Prferences dialog. In the "Output
Plugin" select "eSound Output Plugin".

4. Make gaim use esd. For some reason the auto setting doesn't work in
gaim.

In gaim, Tools->Preferences to open the Preferences dialog. Select
Sounds. Select "ESD" in "Sound Method" drop down.

That's all I got for now. There's a way to make mplayer used esd, but
I don't use mplayer. Also, firefox is suppose to use esddsp to make it
esd aware, but it doesn't seem to work for me.
