Installation in an old I86 with no CD bootstrap procedure

After Mark Shuttleworth's visit to barcelona, I eventually decided to have a
look to Ubuntu.
To do that, I removed the dust of an old equipment, still booting under windows
95, and inserted the CD with the aim to convert the machine to Ubuntu.

It didn't work, because the Bootstral loader has no provision for booting from
the CD drive. At this point, I look up the CD in search for some advice: In the
installation-howto file there's a small section on that (2.2), that refers to
two .img files, which I failed to find in the CD.

Can anyone lend me a hand on that?
