Thunderbird is my e-mail client... I have forgotten why I rejected
Evolution, but there was something that made me decide I didn't like it
much... I do have a Gmail account, but have never considered using
Webmail for lists such as this...
I also find this "reply to sender" config irritating, as most lists that
I subscribe to use "reply to list" and therefore I tend to just simply
click "Reply" rather than "Reply All".... unlike those who say that
"reply to list" is dangerous as it can lead to folks sending private
messages to everyone I would argue that "reply to sender" is equally
dangerous in terms of information exchange as the person who supplies
the final answer to a long thread is quite likely to accidently send it
only to the last poster; completely missing the person who asked the
question in the first place!
In the case of this message I have used "Reply All" which means that
David, Eric and Thom will get it twice -- with "reply to list" they
would only be getting it once. I could remove them from the "to:" list
and leave it with just the mailing list there, but as the mailing list
is one of the "cc:" entries that would be fiddly...
I have yet to see a convincing argument for having a mailing
list/discussion group that uses "reply to sender" rather than "reply to
list"... by far the majority of people mailing are surely likely to want
to send their replies to everyone, and those who wish to reply privately
only have to alter the "to:"
