Many times has linux tried this however many times it's gotten it
wrong. The problem lies in two seperate realms. The first part is that
everyone likes a different interface, presumeably we could make
plugins and whatnot but I believe facet two kills this. The second
problem is that the very people that program these wizards are from
the camp that learned how to do everything via the command line. I'm
sure this will change one day but for now most of them are focused on
making it easier to configure command line config files rather than
making pretty gui's. The only people left making gui's are the ones
that have to (the distros) and the ones with good hearts (there are
only a few like this and they don't get much support from the
community).

So alas, I believe newbies are going to be out on the curb for a while
longer yet; that is, unless you learn how to make gui's and help out
the problem!
