VMWare (notice the V - not the other thread about Wmware)

I've got VMware running on my work machine (runs Windows 2000). I run
Ubuntu on a machine at home. I find that trying to get some things
installed properly can sometimes take a bit of practice so running
Ubuntu under VMWare and performing an update that can EASILY be backed
up first is nice.
 
Does anyone have a modified script or instructions for getting the
VMWare Tools working with Ubuntu so I can run in graphical mode?
