Live RC2, Thinkpad 390X problems

I know exactly the problem that you are having!   :-P .  Had the same
exact issue when I first installed debian on my IBM 390X laptop 2 years
ago.  After a great deal of searching in regards to getting sound on
here working I came across a very small post that gave me a great
answer.  Basically you have to disable the PCI Bus Power Management
under Config-->Advanced Setup-->Power--> Pci Bus Power Management in
your Bios.  This will alleviate all of your issues and so just let me
know how this works out for you.  Sure your battery life may be a bit
lower, but at least everything works fine after this is disabled.  Hope
