correct me if im wrong - but i dont think the default open source nv
driver has accelleration even for 2d stuff.
either way - installing teh propriatory NVidia driver will certainly
help and should stop the problem, to help it more, set renderaccel
option to true and the nvagp to 1
see the excellent www.ubuntuguide.org section on nvidia or the wiki.
