Im using openbox and when Im
moving a window from one place to another X.org process
eats up to 76% CPU !! So when I play music for example it
starts to jag during window moves or even when a terminal
displays constantly scrolling logfiles in gnome-terminal.

versions :

ii  xorg-common    6.8.1-1ubuntu4 X Window System (X.Org) infrastructure
ii  xserver-xorg   6.8.1-1ubuntu4 the X.Org X server

though the video card configuration looks okay in /etc/X11/xorg.conf :

Section "Device"
        Identifier      "NVIDIA Corporation NV11DDR [GeForce2 MX 100
DDR/200 DDR]"
        Driver          "nv"
        BusID           "PCI:1:0:0"
EndSection

snippet from the /var/log/Xorg.0.log file:

(**) |   |-->Monitor "BenQ FP937s"
(**) |   |-->Device "NVIDIA Corporation NV11DDR [GeForce2 MX 100
DDR/200]

(II) LoadModule: "nv"
(II) Loading /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/nv_drv.o
(II) Module nv: vendor="X.Org Foundation"
        compiled for 6.8.1, module version = 1.0.1
        Module class: X.Org Video Driver
        ABI class: X.Org Video Driver, version 0.7

(II) NV: driver for NVIDIA chipsets
(II) Primary Device is: PCI 01:00:0
(--) Chipset GeForce2 MX 100/200 found

any thoughts about this ?
