Sounds to me like you need to add the partitions to your /etc/fstab.  If 
the partitions are in fstab then that file will tell you where the 
partitions are mounted.  I haven't found a way for my OS X partition to 
be mounted on startup so that my default (non-sudo) user can r/w the 
partition without messing up permissions on my OS X install (I have the 
gid=1000,uid=1000 options set).
