Problems resolving internet addresses

is possible for someone come up with a quick explaination on all this.
 I'm pretty sure that I don't use IPv6.  But in Firefox I haven't
disabled IPv6.  So why it seems I don't experience that DNS slowness,
while others do?   Since it is obviously not related to te distro, is
somenthing about our ISP connection, or the network card?
