Ubuntu KDE

Fact is, KDE is heavier because it offers more features that would be of
importance ot a user. Multiple wireless profiles, multiple power profiles,
all accessible through the KDE Control Center. GNOME doesn't have this
stuff.

What GNOME DOES have is better applications, such as Pan, GAIM (and GAIM-VV)
and several others. What either GUI looks like is somewhat irrevalent,
since with enough tweaking you can mke them look identical.
