Can't burn CDs from Nautilus.

That's exactly what I have too.

Yes;  I get as far as a dialogue that appears to be part of it, but all I 
can do is write a CD image to a file - I can't choose a physical drive at 
that stage.

It is as though the *application* isn't aware of the presence of the drive.
