I would be cautious with it; I purchased an HP scanner some time ago which
had a model number _similar_ to one known to be supported, and it is a
completely different chipset with very little chance of open support in the
future.
I'm now using an HP OfficeJet 5510 quite happily; others are using the
(supported) PSC models with great success.
