osx like launchbar with skaramba does not work transparently

It stays on top, but there is an opaque background around the starter
applet that oscures whatever is in the background.


I have had another problem, with the File Manager icon in the starter,
which mysteriously disappears after a while, and I can;t remove it too.
I have to nuke the starter and start building one anew again.
