I figure rather than hijack Mike's thread, I'll fork it.
Ext4 is already in the kernel. You just need to compile it with
support. It was released over a year ago, it just hasn't hit mainstream
yet, because ext3 is so stable. I'm not sure if it's in the Ubuntu
kernel or not. If not, it should be filed as a bug. :)
