I have a dell e1505 laptop and both the broadcom and the wireless are
supported out of the box with both edgy and feisty. If the broadcom isn't be
recognize you'll just have to recompile your kernel to have support for it.
And as for your wireless, if you are running the intel 3945abg their is
native linux support via the ipw3945 module (
http://ipw3945.sourceforge.net/ ) which is also pre-loaded in both edgy and
feisty.
One thing you might want to do if you aren't running feisty is get network
manager installed, it'll help you manage your wireless connections.
