Usplash Boot image?

I'm going out on a limb with some of this but I figure you deserved a
reply with *something* :)

Also, I notice a lot of things are fixed by verifying you have the
'ubuntu-desktop' package installed. Is that also done?
I'll keep looking for you if none of that helps.. My machines upgraded
from that old boot screen you're on naturally long ago so I'm not
absolutely sure what to suggest.
