Joseph,
It is great to hear from you and I look forward to working with you on
Ubuntu stuff. I haven't heard of any serious concerns with Edgy, most
of the reports I have been reading are quite positive. The only major
negatives are the two dapper updates that broke X-server for a few
hours. Fortunately, Canonical and sadfl are looking into a way to
provide updates to a group of testers before releasing to the public.

The cs.utah.edu mirror was one of the first official US mirrors for
Ubuntu. Now there are 17 official US mirrors, as you can see here:
