Dear Texas Team Members

I have been part of recent conversations regarding what Texas needs to
do to get the wheels rolling on team formation. This has been a
painstakingly long process as the activity of the team dies off just
days after the discussion has started several times. This is very
frustrating as several times meetings have happened but the state
members just let the activity die off for reasons unknown.

We all have our priorities and lives that separate us in our abilities
to participate. This team although has over 100 users/members
according to https://launchpad.net/~texasteam . With that many users/
members then how are the events not apparent. The first question would
be is the figure accurate?

The fact of the team using volunteer membership may have some portion
of the reason but not all. If we never gather as a team then really
what are we just a common interest that uses a mailing list. I don't
know about the reasons that others may have joined but that is not why
I volunteer. I wanted to be a part of a LoCo Team not just another
member of mailing list.

I am having a meetup that I have announced to the Dallas Team mailing
list https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-us-tx-dallas/2010-September/000237.html
and was wishing that people from the areas nearby could join. If you
are interested please let me know at http://www.meetup.com/Mashable/29323/?a=bn6_l1
.

This gives many a short notice but I was thinking that the metroplex
team was the place to announce this maybe I was mistaken. But with
over half of the Texas Team members coming from the Dallas Team I
would think that the interest would be a given.

Are people interested in actually forming the team? if so

Let us not keep spinning our wheels. Let's do things
