Unless you want to play the latest games or have a need for Windows only
programs Ubuntu may be the best solution for you.

Switching from Windows to Ubuntu may be a small culture shock; as would
be switching from Windows to Mac since not everything is the same.

Cost free isn't exactly right. There are some instances where it does
cost money to use Ubuntu. It's uncommon, but does happen.
