The Wooden Shoe bookstore off of South Street said they'd be more than
happy to be our Philly distribution point, I didn't have a chance to
really hammer out all of the details but it's good to know we've got
some support. The Wooden shoe is a worker-run mostly anarchist
collective/bookstore. It's right off of south street (5th or 6th I
forget) but they are big supporters of free software (and freedom in
general). I was chatting with a member of the collective about
distributing info and cds and they said they would love to. After the
girls inc. it would probably be a good idea to start building
documentation and the likes. Are we able to order more than pack of cds
from Shipit? A full pack would be good to give to the shoe, they get a
lot of customers every day and a lot of them are kids who would probably
love to ditch their MS. I stuck an install-fest flier on the community
bulletin board so hopefully a few will see it and come but stuff gets
covered up on that board so quickly it's not even funny. I was hoping we
could also facilitate communication between the Shoe and the FSF and try
to get the show to keep some books on free software in stock; at least a
copy of Free Software, Free Society by RMS. The wooden shoe is a great
place who can really help us spread the word.
