Eduart,
It sounds like you might have the 64-bit (or AMD64) version of the CD.
You don't have a 64-bit processor, and so you need the other version.
If you're familiar with how to burn .iso files, you can download them
from the ubuntu site, or from one of their mirrors
(http://mirrors.us.kernel.org/ubuntu-releases/jaunty/ubuntu-9.04-desktop-i386.iso)
Otherwise, I would try and get the other CD from the same source you got
the first one. It will likely come in a different color sleeve if it's
an official ubuntu copy.
