Yes, it only supports gprs, but I don't even expect to use that myself. 
however, it's very clear what providers are supported. Any GSM carrier 
will work (AT&T, T-mobile, etc. NOT verizon or sprint). There was an 
issue early on with some AT&T SIM cards, but that has been resolved and 
now all SIMs work in it to my knowledge (there's a list on the wiki 
somewhere). The software is beta, but the hardware is ready to go, and 
in terms of standard phone usage, calling, texting, etc.: that all is 
working out of the box as of late, so I expect to be able to use it as 
my primary phone when I receive it. Again, the software is still 
officially beta for now, so I'll be keeping my old phone around in case 
I break something, but I don't expect to use it much.
