Network Brother 465cn Scanner Problem

I need some help in setting up my Ubuntu 8.04 desktop to scan across the 
network to a Brother MFC 465cn. I followed the instructions from this 
forum, http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=678407, along with 
downloading and installing the applicable Brothers drivers.
When I run the command "brsaneconfig2 -a name=MFC465CW-SCANNER 
model=MFC-465CW IP=192.168.0.53" I get the response Invalid IP Address 
or NODENAME.
I am able to print across the network to the Brother device. Also, we 
are able to scan across the network from the Win XP workstations.
Running xsane as root also shows "No Devices Available".
What am I missing?
