Any flavor of Ubuntu will allow you to participate in all aspects at 
some level (version and application specific), and any machine with a 
browser and internet connection (including Windows and Mac OSX) will 
allow you to do some of the work needed.

I'll also have some Ubuntu CDs at the event to hand out so you can live 
CD boot from those:)
