   I think you're complaining about network performance, not the
   upgrade process (which btw is one of the most seamless out there).
   Especially if you're using the default mirrors, which were very
   busy due to the release yesterday...

If you have multiple local systems and a relatively slow network
connection, having to download everything is very inefficient.  I have
two machines running OpenSUSE, and rather than use online update I
download everything and use smart to install things.

(I'm surely downloading far more data than I would by pointing at the
remote repositories -- but the way I do it does all the downloading
overnight, so it takes much less of my time.)
