Kubuntu update

Remarks about upgrade:

I was able to do a Kubuntu upgrade on Thursday night, but am
experiencing issues on my Toshiba laptop which has only 256Mb of RAM,
though this ran acceptably with Hardy-8.04. I suspect low RAM is part of
it, but am getting the following problems:
1) Random restarts of X server forcing new login
2) Display monitor kicks in to tell me of a new connection.
3) Full boot is so long (RAM?) that the wireless connection doesn't
activate on its own, must click on the ath0 connection to get bars.
4) Have just switched down to 800/600 resolution to see if that
mitigates the monitor/xserver issues at all.
