expanding header

If you look at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UKTeam/HomeBeta you can see their
header expands with the browser window. The image they use is low quality
but with the image we have we could make it really long and not have to
worry about image quality to make it a small file. The image they use only
fills up a little more than half of my screen because of my screen
resolution. I don't think i can do it but can someone add onto the image we
use right now to make it long enough to do the same thing?
