I can't get this thing to work right. I guess it got sent to only joe? Now
i can't get this text box to go away. I'm soooooo confused as to what is
going on in gmail. Lefty told me to send it again, so everyong can see my
responcec, but i think my originally sent one got deleted automatically by
gmail...but he says it isn't, so i'm sorry that it's like a bunch of stupid
things, i can't get it to work...but i wanted my respnce to be there. :( I

Bill's refurbed laptop reminded me of an article about a guy who was
distributing old machines with Linux on them and it gave me an idea that
I'd like to throw out here to the group. What if as a group we did
something similar? We could collect old machines clean them up and
install Ubuntu on them. It would generate some publicity and spread the
wealth.

What do you think?

I believe it was decided at a meeting, that we will take in computers, but
distribute them to clean up companies to do the same thing. There are
companies out there, that do the same thing, and distribute them....and it's
a way of giving back to the community, because those people cleaning them
up, aren't in the greatest of financial situations themselves. However,
there is no stopping you from doing the same on your own...Also, It's hard
to do that too, because not everyone is interested or able to use
ubuntu...(i know some people are going to fight me on it)

Maybe we shouldn't do the clean up and such, but we could be more
proactive in acquiring suitable systems. I agree about using Ubuntu to
an extent. It is also not suitable for some older systems. I wouldn't
want to put it on an older system and have it be as slow as molasses.
That would just be defeating the purpose.
