First of all, howdy.
If you don't know me, I'm RUIZ, but I usually go by Simón. I co-founded
this team with Michael Schultheiss a while back.
This is the first time I realized there was a way to e-mail people who
were "members" of the loco team on launchpad; we've been communicating
all these years through the mailing list, though I understand there are
some folks who prefer the forums and who don't do mailing lists.
With regard to get togethers, we have been having them at regular 6
month intervals in the form of release parties. Attendance tends to be
higher at our outdoor spring parties (which, the past few years have
taken place at Fort Harrison State Park) than at our indoor autumn
parties, and has declined in the past year or so.
I realise it's probably a bit late of an announcement for those of you
who aren't already subscribed to our other communication channels, but
if you've got the opportunity, we're having a Maverick Release Party
tomorrow.
Here's Michael's announcement:
The latest version of Ubuntu, version 19.10 (Maverick Meerkat) was
released on Sunday, October 10, 2010. In celebration of Maverick's
release, the Indiana Ubuntu Local Community team is holding a release
party at the Claddagh Irish Pub at 3835 E. 96th Street on the Northside
of Indianapolis starting at 7:00 PM on Saturday, October 23, 2010.
Please RSVP at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/IndianaTeam/MaverickReleaseParty
I welcome all to come, be active, and get involved if you can. Please!
If you can't make it tomorrow but would make it another time, then let's
try to have a get together another time. I would love to see this loco
come to life again.
As to "relinquishing control": if I have such a thing, I would love to
do so. I feel I'm in the way as much as Rob seems to.
Michael and I have been trying to pass the torch to others with more
time, energy and vision to devote to managing and organizing this
endeavor for a while, now: <https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-us-

If such a person would step forward, I for one would welcome them.
