I have a job opening for a Linux system administrator that I'm looking
to fill in January. I don't have the full job description posted yet,
but we're adding an employee to our team of 3 (soon to be 4) Linux
sysadmins who run the Linux & network infrastructure for a
quickly-growing healthcare application service provider startup (5
years old) that's based out of Ft. Lauderdale. Working remotely is an
option (2/3 of our 50+ technology staff work remotely), and working
out of the Ft. Lauderdale area corporate office or Indianapolis branch
office is also possible if you prefer.
Responsibilities will include:
Working with the team to manage a Xen cluster of ~50 Linux virtual
servers running in 2 data centers (Chicago & Miami) on IBM
BladeCenters & SANs.
Working with the team to migrate many of these virtual servers to
Ubuntu running on our commodity hardware cloud computing
infrastructure.
Work closely with developers and implementation teams to track down
infrastructure-related issues
Occasionally working with customers to troubleshoot connectivity issues
Depending on your location, a small amount of travel to one of our
data centers may be requested on occasion when problems cannot be
resolved remotely or new hardware needs to be installed (2-3 days per
quarter maximum).
On call (via telephone) for infrastructure emergencies 1 week out of
3. Available for Monday night maintenance windows from 11:30 PM -
3:00 AM.
Requirements - 3 years of Linux Administration experience, BS degree
in related field
Cisco/WAN, Oracle, SAN, Asterisk, PHP, VPN experience a plus.
Competitive Pay, Benefits, and Time off. Ability to work from
anywhere is a definite plus. Specific work hours are negotiable,
depending on time zone.
