[ubuntu-us-in] Sound Issues?

Thanks, I will take a look at this.
I helped a friend upgrade his computer from Kubuntu 8.04 to Kubuntu
8.10. After the upgrade, the sound stopped working.
However, if we switched to GNOME rather than KDE on the same computer,
then sound worked fine. So my friend is now using Ubuntu rather than
Kubuntu. And considering the problems I have read about KDE4, it is
probably a good thing. I know I made the switch because of KDE4,
although for me it had nothing to do with the sound.
