Installing applications from outside the repositories

Joining into the conversation a bit late here, but if there is a piece
of software that y'all are looking for, I can probably repackage it for
Gutsy and upload it to the repository that I am managing.  If there is
an already existing package for the software, available in the desired
version, then it's nearly a certainty that I can get it built for Gutsy.
