Have you considered any "lower" tech solutions?
My daughter used to think it was a riot to escape as well and I picked
up a low cost wireless "alarm" system (probably ~$50) from Home Depot
and put sensors up high on all the doors and the receiver in the
middle of the house. I was able to set it up so in normal operation,
anytime a door opened it gave a chime to alert me (sounded like a
convenience store chime), and if I had to take a shower or something
where I might not notice the chime I could arm it with a 4-digit
passcode where it would make a much louder alarm noise I could hear
anywhere.
