I purchased the MotoACTV <https://motoactv.com/> a few weeks back. I don't
even use the fitness apps on it. Since then I've rooted it and installed,
google maps, snes/nes/sega/ emulators and roms, youtube, etc. It has
bluetooth, GPS, and wifi. I use it to control the radios/televisions/
everything else with bluetooth in my house, and google maps via my wrist
when I'm on my motorcycle (super convenient). Not only will you be able to
track your kid but they'll be the coolest kid in school.
Other ideas:
- There are arduino chips <http://www.sparkfun.com/products/9367> with
wifi cards on them
- Depending on the size of your home, it may be more efficient to
construct your device using bluetooth. It's cheaper.
