[ubuntu-florida] ssd help

Well, I finally got to do a little more checking tonight, and I think
I got it figured out.

I figured out I was chasing the wrong tail.

I'd also upgrade my system to 8GB at the same time. So, when I went
to do a clean install, the installer correctly chose the PAE kernel.
After finally realizing this (after seeing it about 100 times), I
dropped back to 3GB of ram, and the SSD works just fine.

A diff on the .config files doesnt give me any glaring clues as to
what could be causing the issue. My best untrained guess is the extra
SCSI drivers, but even that seems like a stretch.

Anyway ... I filed a bug, tested 8GB with the default desktop kernel
and the generic mainline kernels. Other than seeing only 3GB of RAM,
both work fine.

So, next step is to build a custom kernel based on the default desktop
kernel, but with CONFIG_HIGHMEM64G=y and I should be good. In theory.
