Richard,
While I may not be able to help you in person, I would be willing to 
create video tutorials. Heck we could even post them online for future 
new users. I know there are some video guides out there, but I don't 
think there are any that focus on new users. We could even as a 
community work on such a project, and I think it would be helpful to 
have a new users perspective on it to figure out what they would like to 
be taught.
Just an idea.
