(In case anyone else has started to have issues.)
I have only had ONE major problem (caused by an errant ppa and app, OK,
midori) since 2007 but I have noticed a few things recently, but I
cannot pinpoint exactly when they started:
DVDs playback would slow to a crawl; now they simply have stopped
playing. Audio CDs have no problem.
Hulu and Fancast slow to a crawl (maxing out CPU at 100%) BUT if I watch
France24 or AlJazeera (wwitv.com) news videos (youtube, too) they are
OK. BBC radio plays fine.
BOINC never finishes; in fact, the time to finish counter INCREASES. I
had it set at CPU of 30% for almost 1.5 years with no previous problems.
ClamTK rebooted my box once while running; the check never finished.
ClamTk just stopped and exited, about 60% done; check never finished.
ClamTK just stopped but did NOT exit, about 95% done; check never
finished. (Clam also maxed out CPU at 100%.)
Otherwise, after re-booting, the piddly things I do (email, OpenOffice,
text editing, creating PDFs, some web vids, etc.) are OK.
It's just that since I run a VERY standard 10.04 install (only 5 apps of
my own adding) I just find it curious.
My little Lubuntu mini-itx PC has the latest 11.04. DVDs won't play
anyway, but hulu and fancast do not slow to a crawl. I haven't added
ClamTK yet.
